Don't cry for me Argentina

Submitted by Les Manley on Mon, 2006-11-06 06:00.

The soft light from the street lamps played gently across her face and long hair as we sped around the streets of a late night Buenos Aires in the back of a taxi. Her lips moved and soft gushing, melodic words ensued. "Are you happy she asked?" I thought about it for a second, and glaced back at her, "Yes I said, I couldn't be more happy".

And in that moment I really was, I had everything I had ever wanted, that I knew for sure when I looked deep into her eyes. I could have died then in that moment, and maybe that would have been better.

For living with out *name omitted to protect the privacy of third parties* was like living with out water, once your lips had tasted the sweetness there was no going back. I missed her terribly after I left Argentina. I knew the only thing that would cure my sickness was snow; deep, soft, endless snow. I wanted to wrap myself in winter and forget about that oh so pretty girl from Buenos Aires, who skied and surfed and loved to live life. It was all too fitting, too painful, and too irrational to understand. I needed escape.

The downward spiral had been spinning for sometime before I found myself at this fork in the road, a point where I had to realize that I had to leave, that I had to go home. There was no option, no choice. It was either that or risk losing myself here in a latino world that for all my time on the great continent of S.A. I still poorly understood and felt even less a part of.

Argentina Stole Our Winter

Submitted by J Dogg on Sat, 2006-10-28 09:18.

No wonder winter hasn't started yet up in the Pacific Northwest. Our winter has been stolen! Yep, that's right. Cold handed theft, from non other than our favourite South American neighbour, Las Lenas. Mark Lasseter wrote in an email today from down there...

"Ah, it is puking snow in town now.  While the resort officially closed 2 weeks ago, the sexotuple and lynch chairs are open and a pass is 25 p. You know we're going to be tapping that this week!"

Las Lenas - October Sessions

Submitted by Mark Lasseter on Thu, 2006-10-12 22:44.

So of course October started with the party of the year, Sep 29 in Mendoza at Alfred's house to celebrate his birthday and the end of the season (although the season had really not ended yet in Las Lenas).
